The Song of Silicon

Imagine you're planning a dinner party and need a playlist. Soon, you might just prompt an AI, as easily as you use Spotify, to craft a soundtrack that evolves with the evening's ambiance.

Think of it: a soundtrack that not only matches the mood perfectly but is also filled with entirely new, never-before-heard music. This is rapidly becoming possible.

Maybe, we'll get to start hearing music come from people with no musical background but plenty of passion and creativity.

Will that be you?

New to AI? Start Here

What's the Big Deal, Anyway?

“Oh come on, I’ve heard it a thousand times before - AI is getting ‘better’. Sure I can talk to an AI which is kinda neat, but is that really important? I mean it can’t even count how many hands or fingers are supposed to be there. It forgets things all the time, and makes weird stuff up too! It’s not like it’s that big of a deal.

It’s just another tech-fad, and like everything else it’s probably just gonna disappear in a few months or years anyway. Just look at how crazy people went over 3D movies or how useless cryptocurrencies have been. It’s just predicting the next token, it’s not like it actually understands anything. How would it even take my job? It’s just a machine and what I do is way too complicated.

. . . Right?”

Mindscape

These are the most consistent posts for the website. This is where I'll do deep dives into difficult topics that require nuance and a balanced approach. Expect new posts once a week on Sundays.

Some of the topics we'll be exploring are:

 1. Why should you care about AI

 2. Art and AI

 3. Machine sentience, and why we should be talking about it

And so much more.

Dreamscape

This is where I explore why we should be excited about AI.

This is where we can let ourselves dream of a future better than today.

I'll be writing posts here once in a while - I can't rush these, and they'll come with inspiration.

The key to the Dreamscape, is that I will always  ground these posts in legitimately possible futures.

About

I started this blog because I want to raise both awareness and knowledge of the deep and important ideas in AI. I want to demonstrate why it matters to you just as much as it does to experts working in the field right now. I want to share what I think are meaningful, and oft neglected ideas in the AI world. I'm not a computer scientist or a machine learning specialist. But I think very deeply about where we're going in the face of AI, and I think that the voice of the everyday person like you or I matters just as much. Let's take the first step to directing our future and join the conversation before it's too late.

Mission

Spark wide conversation about forward-thinking ideas in the AI space

Inform the people who will be affected by AI in the coming months and years (everyone)

Demonstrate collaboration and mutual thinking as an essential quality of the future

Advocate for responsible AI development that prioritizes the well-being of all sentient things
